NFPA 25 Inspection Frequencies
NFPA 25 sets specific intervals for keeping a water-based fire protection system compliant — not just an annual visit:
Monthly — gauge inspections on dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
Quarterly — inspection of control valves and vane-type/pressure-type waterflow devices.
Annually — full system inspection, main drain test, and fire pump flow test.
Every 5 years — internal inspection of piping for obstructions such as scale, corrosion, or sediment.
Missing these intervals is one of the most common violations we find during AHJ inspections and insurance audits.
